TL;DR
- Google is developing a hands-free Emergency SOS trigger for Android devices.
- References to the feature appear in the code of Google’s Personal Safety app.
- Based on an animation, we say the feature could be activated when a user says “Help” three times.
Google’s Personal Safety is an extremely useful app that lets users share their whereabouts with loved ones, get alerts about extreme weather, or raise an alarm using the Emergency SOS feature. On Pixel phones and watches, this app also handles features such as Fall Detection and Crash Detection.
Currently, triggering an Emergency SOS, especially on non-Pixel devices, requires users to physically press the power button five times. But now it seems like Google may be adding another way to trigger it even without touching the phone.
